For My Semester 2 Project In The Bachelor Of Arts In Architectural Design Course, I Was Tasked To Design A Getaway House For Albert Einstein In K. Kaashidhoo. The Aim Was To Create A Residence That Integrates Einstein’s Unique Personality With The Island’s Serene Beauty.

K. Kaashidhoo’s Tropical Climate And Cultural Heritage Influenced The Design, Ensuring It Was Climate-Responsive And Sustainable. This Project Combined Architectural Creativity With Practical Considerations, Resulting In A Design That Honors Einstein’s Genius And The Island’s Natural Charm.

Site Study, Client Study

For This Project, We Went To K. Kaashidhoo For A Week To Study The Site. An Area Of The Island Was Chosen For Us And We Were Supposed To Pick A Site That Is The Most Relevant To The Client. We Were Given A Perimeter Of 15m X 15m Area To Be Selected As Our Site.
To Begin The Design Process, I First Analyzed My Client. And These Are The Things That I Found Out:

Based On These Findings, I Wanted To Find A Site That Focuses On Connecting With Nature By Giving Him Good Views And Easy Accessibility To Focus On His Education As A Learner And An Educator.

With These Things In Mind, The Site Is Located Near The Beach, And One Side Of The Site Faces A Road That Connects To The Main Road. Bellow Shows Some Activity Near The Site, Suggesting That People Gather Around The Area.

These Activities Suggest That If A Building Was Erected Near This Area, It Would Evoke A Sense Of Wonder And Curiosity To Explore The Structure. Hence This Place Was Taken.

Ideas & Concepts

“Fostering Intellectual Curiosity, Scientific Exploration, And A Deep Appreciation For The True Beauty Of Nature” Is My Narrative For This Design. It Means That This Space Is A Gathering Point To Explore, Learn, Teach, And Connect With Nature. All In One. The Main Idea Came From The Atoms And The Solar Systems Having A Central Dominant Space That Smaller Objects Tend To Hover Or Orbit Around.

This Idea Is Further Researched And Developed Keeping In Mind The Different Activities That Need To Be Accomplished In This Space. These Include A Place To Study The Stars And A Place Where He Can Teach What Knowledge He Currently Knows And What Knowledge He Is Trying To Achieve. As This Was A Vacation House, He Also Needed A Place To Relax And As He Was Thought To Be Spending Time Alone Staring Into Nothingness, He Needed A Specific Space To Achieve This.

With All These Ideas And Spaces In Mind, I Made Sketches To Explore Different Ways To Achieve This. The Next Page Shows Different Spaces Highlighting Their Importance And Diagrams That Show Spatial Organization.
